How to Install an eSIM on iPhone

Follow these steps to install your Roambit eSIM on your iPhone. This process works for all eSIM-compatible iPhones running iOS 12.1 or later.

Before You Begin

  • Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi
  • Ensure your device is carrier unlocked
  • Have your Roambit QR code ready (from your email or account dashboard)
  • Do not delete the QR code email until installation is complete

Method 1: Scan QR Code (Recommended)

iOS 17.4 and later:

  1. Open the Camera app
  2. Point it at the Roambit QR code
  3. Tap the notification that appears at the top
  4. Tap Continue on the "Add eSIM" screen
  5. Wait for the profile to download (10-30 seconds)
  6. Tap Done

iOS 12.1 - iOS 17.3:

  1. Go to SettingsCellular (or Mobile Data)
  2. Tap Add Cellular Plan or Add eSIM
  3. Scan the QR code with your camera
  4. Tap Add Cellular Plan
  5. Wait for the profile to download
  6. Tap Done

Method 2: Manual Installation

If you can't scan the QR code, enter the details manually:

  1. Go to SettingsCellularAdd eSIM
  2. Tap Enter Details Manually
  3. Enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code from your Roambit email
  4. Tap Next and wait for the profile to download
  5. Tap Done

After Installation

Label your plan:

  1. You'll be asked to label the new plan (e.g., "Travel" or "Roambit")
  2. This helps you identify it in Settings

Set your default lines:

  1. Choose which line to use for Cellular Data - select your Roambit eSIM
  2. Keep your primary SIM for Calls and Messages

Enable Data Roaming:

  1. Go to SettingsCellular
  2. Tap your Roambit eSIM plan
  3. Toggle Data Roaming to ON
  4. Toggle Turn On This Line to ON

Important: Do not enable data roaming until you arrive at your destination, or you may connect to networks prematurely and start using your data allowance.

Troubleshooting

  • "Cannot Add Cellular Plan" - Ensure your device is carrier unlocked and connected to Wi-Fi
  • QR code won't scan - Try cleaning your camera lens, adjusting lighting, or using manual entry
  • Profile stuck downloading - Restart your iPhone and try again
  • No service after installation - Enable data roaming and restart your device
