How to Install an eSIM on iPhone

Follow these steps to install your Roambit eSIM on your iPhone. This process works for all eSIM-compatible iPhones running iOS 12.1 or later.
Before You Begin
- Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi
- Ensure your device is carrier unlocked
- Have your Roambit QR code ready (from your email or account dashboard)
- Do not delete the QR code email until installation is complete
Method 1: Scan QR Code (Recommended)
iOS 17.4 and later:
- Open the Camera app
- Point it at the Roambit QR code
- Tap the notification that appears at the top
- Tap Continue on the "Add eSIM" screen
- Wait for the profile to download (10-30 seconds)
- Tap Done
iOS 12.1 - iOS 17.3:
- Go to Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data)
- Tap Add Cellular Plan or Add eSIM
- Scan the QR code with your camera
- Tap Add Cellular Plan
- Wait for the profile to download
- Tap Done
Method 2: Manual Installation
If you can't scan the QR code, enter the details manually:
- Go to Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM
- Tap Enter Details Manually
- Enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code from your Roambit email
- Tap Next and wait for the profile to download
- Tap Done
After Installation
Label your plan:
- You'll be asked to label the new plan (e.g., "Travel" or "Roambit")
- This helps you identify it in Settings
Set your default lines:
- Choose which line to use for Cellular Data - select your Roambit eSIM
- Keep your primary SIM for Calls and Messages
Enable Data Roaming:
- Go to Settings → Cellular
- Tap your Roambit eSIM plan
- Toggle Data Roaming to ON
- Toggle Turn On This Line to ON
Important: Do not enable data roaming until you arrive at your destination, or you may connect to networks prematurely and start using your data allowance.
Troubleshooting
- "Cannot Add Cellular Plan" - Ensure your device is carrier unlocked and connected to Wi-Fi
- QR code won't scan - Try cleaning your camera lens, adjusting lighting, or using manual entry
- Profile stuck downloading - Restart your iPhone and try again
- No service after installation - Enable data roaming and restart your device
