How to Install an eSIM on Android Devices

This guide covers eSIM installation on most Android smartphones. For device-specific instructions, see our guides for Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel.

Before You Begin

• Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network
• Verify your device is carrier unlocked
• Have your Roambit QR code ready
• Ensure your Android version is 10 or later

Installation Steps

Step 1: Open SIM Settings

1. Go to Settings
2. Tap Network & internet (or Connections)
3. Tap SIMs or SIM Manager
4. Tap Add or Download a SIM

Step 2: Scan the QR Code

1. Tap Scan QR code when prompted
2. Point your camera at the Roambit QR code
3. Your phone will detect and download the eSIM profile
4. This may take 30-60 seconds

Step 3: Confirm Installation

1. Review the carrier details on screen
2. Tap Download or Confirm
3. Wait for the profile to install
4. Tap Done

Manual Installation (If QR Code Fails)

1. Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs
2. Tap Add → Download a SIM
3. Tap Need help? or Enter code manually
4. Enter the activation code from your Roambit email
5. Tap Download and wait for installation

Configure Your eSIM

After installation, configure your settings:

1. Rename your eSIM - Tap the new SIM and give it a recognizable name like "Roambit Travel"
2. Set as data SIM - Go to SIM Manager and select your Roambit eSIM for Mobile Data
3. Enable data roaming:
   • Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs
   • Tap your Roambit eSIM
   • Toggle Roaming to ON
4. Keep your primary SIM for calls and texts

Important Notes

• Turn off VPN before installation - VPNs can interfere with the download process
• Airplane mode trick - If you experience issues, toggle Airplane mode on/off after installation
• Data roaming must be enabled for the eSIM to work abroad
• Do not remove your eSIM profile unless instructed by support - some profiles can only be installed once
