How to Check if Your Device Supports eSIM
Before purchasing a Roambit eSIM plan, it's important to verify that your device supports eSIM technology. Here's how to check on different devices.
Important Requirements
Your device must meet all of these criteria:
- eSIM-capable hardware - The device must have an embedded SIM chip
- Carrier unlocked - Your phone must not be locked to a specific carrier
- Not jailbroken/rooted - Modified devices may not support eSIM
Check on iPhone (iOS)
Method 1: Settings
- Open Settings
- Tap General → About
- Scroll down and look for Available SIM or EID
- If you see an EID number, your iPhone supports eSIM
Method 2: Dial a code
- Open the Phone app
- Dial
*#06# - If an EID number appears alongside IMEI, your device supports eSIM
Compatible iPhones:
- iPhone XS, XS Max, XR (2018)
- iPhone 11 series (2019)
- iPhone SE 2nd & 3rd generation
- iPhone 12 series (2020)
- iPhone 13 series (2021)
- iPhone 14 series (2022)
- iPhone 15 series (2023) - US models are eSIM-only
- iPhone 16 series (2024)
Check on Samsung Galaxy
- Open Settings
- Go to Connections → SIM Manager
- If you see Add eSIM option, your device is compatible
Compatible Samsung devices:
- Galaxy S20, S21, S22, S23, S24, S25 series
- Galaxy Z Flip & Z Fold (all generations)
- Galaxy Note 20 series
- Galaxy A54 5G, A55 5G
Check on Google Pixel
- Open Settings
- Tap Network & internet → SIMs
- Look for Download a SIM instead or the + button
Compatible Pixel devices:
- Pixel 3, 3a and newer (all models)
- Pixel Fold, Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Check if Your Device is Carrier Unlocked
An eSIM won't work on a carrier-locked device. To check:
iPhone:
- Go to Settings → General → About
- Scroll to Carrier Lock
- It should say No SIM restrictions
Android:
- Insert a SIM from a different carrier
- If you can make calls, your phone is unlocked
- Or contact your carrier to confirm unlock status
Important: If your device is carrier-locked, contact your carrier to request an unlock before purchasing an eSIM plan.
